... how to tell if someone's in love?
i recall how in Matrix Revolutions (spoiler alert, if you haven't seen it), Rama-Kandra, when talking about his love for his daughter Sita, knew instantly that Neo was in love. in the club, Persephone knew without a doubt that Trinity was willing to kill the Merovingian ("What's it gonna be, Merv?") and risk being killed by the henchmen, simply because she was in love, like it was a sign hung around her neck.
how to tell?
having both uttered and heard those words myself in my own history (in the distant past and in recent events), well, i wonder. what's the difference between being in love and simply being obsessed or infatuated, as i know some people to be? and for that matter, what's the difference between loving and being in love with someone?
call it broadcasting my own curiosity, and, admittedly, my confusion as well. you gotta wonder sometimes, are you in love with a particular person, or are you just really appreciative of the company because you've been lonely?
(for some reason, i feel like i'm writing a Sex and the City column, haha!)
the annoying thing is that i usually know how i feel. yeah, i like you, yes, i love you, and you can go to hell, that sort of thing. so you can imagine the aggravation brought about by indecision, by plain ignorance. it's unusual for me to be unable to make sense of my feelings, especially since i act on my feelings. if my feelings keep shifting, my actions will too, and that's the sort of thing that inadvertently hurts people, and anyone who knows me also knows that's the last thing i'd want to do.
