11:59a - The Purplechickens' Album Launch, December 12, 2003
The Purplechickens, stepchildren of the burgeoning local indie scene, are set to release their debut, 'Here's Plan B', on December 12 at Millennia Café along Kamuning Road, Quezon City. Also getting launched that night is their limited-edition EP, dubbed 'Let's Not And Say We Did'. Supporting the band at the launch are Twisted Halo and Itchyworms, both of whom are also poised to release their respective independent efforts by early next year.

The band, composed of Aldus Santos, Aids Arcega, Mayo Martin, Marco Harder, and Zig Rabara, has been around since 1997 and has gigged consistently. They have made the rounds of local clubs and productions (All-Starugo and Sunday Grabe Sunday at Mayric's in Manila; Last Full Show and their very own Marooned! at Millennia Café; and Admit One at Rock Radio Café in Alabang). "Here's Plan B" is a testament to the band's obsessive craft—always one of continuous writing, rewriting, even scrapping, material. It is also the band's love offering to the resilient affair that is independent music.

Mixing and engineering the album are premiere guitarist Perf de Castro and Joe Hernandez.

"Ars Terror" and "Dream Systems", two of the songs appearing on "Here's Plan B", have enjoyed steady listenership for over a year online. The said songs, like most of the numbers off the album, have struck fans and critics alike as works of "remarkable depth and feeling," to quote a review. The band has likewise struck people as accessible yet inventive, literary yet catchy.
