+ regina
have been communicating through eail with clients in Bangkok; our company is doing their website. i decided in my first email to them to sign my name as "regina' instead of my usual "rej," to avoid confusion lest they think i'm a guy - God forbid.
so now in all their emails - and they correspond with much gusto, i notice - they address me as "regina." it's oddly satisfying, like i've grown up and become a woman to be respected, no longer the spunky college girl who was automatically combative at any sign of antagonism or protest.
i rather like being "regina."
+ Clarisse decided to resume our DVD nights at home, and we saw Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs last week, in that order. which i suppose is the way it should be viewed, since Red Dragon was intended as a prequel, and i've already seen Hannibal.
ah, Red Dragon. what can i say? Anthony Hopkins is a genius, forever. nobody, and i mean nobody, could have played this role better. unfortunately, i can't say the same for Edward Norton. he's just so... dull. personally, i feel the way his character was written for the film wasn't so great. there was no angle from which you could sympathize. he was just some guy with baggage. tough. i did, however, like Ralph Fiennes in his role as Mr. D. it's a very courageous departure from his usual role as the debonair gentleman, or the well-mannered man. as for the story, i suppose it was interesting, and had good premise, but it just didn't strike me as well-translated into film. heck, even Hannibal made for better, more dramatic and suspenseful story-telling than this, even if the story wasn't all that great. tsk.
i've finally seen Silence of the Lambs! i remember seeing mere glimpses of it before, but then my mother would usher me out of the room because she thought i was too young to see it. when i finally was old enough to see it, i never go the chance - till last week. man, you gotta love it. half the time, i was shielding my eyes with my hands because i just knew something was going to jump our of the shadows. truly, that film was good. excellent with setting the mood, with establishing Clarisse Starling's character, which portraying Hannibal Lecter as a brilliant monster, with the psychopath's delusions and modus operandi. loved it!
