9:57a - Future Perfect
in high school, i saw Future Me as a globe-trotting magazine editor. then i went to college and took up Comparative Literature instead of Journalism.
in college, i saw Future Me as a funky, controversial instructor for the Department of English and Comparative Literature, College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman.
as you all know, that didn't work out. i did work as a magazine editor after graduating, but i wasn't doing any globe-trotting at the time.
then i worked as funky publications coordinator at DLS-College of Saint Benilde, so i wasn't quite teaching English at the country's premier university.
then i worked for an IT firm as a project manager, and i saw Future Me as working there Forever, because i liked the work and the people, and i saw myself working my way up the ranks.
then that didn't work because i resigned, and now i work at home, at a job that pays better than any job i've held before, for less effort. and i do my bit of globe-trotting too.
and for many years, the thought of getting married and having a family was but a remote, unlikely possibility to me, something amusing to imagine yet neither planned nor particularly desired.
and now, looking at photos and blog entries from one of my oldest friends, and from her sister, i want nothing more than to marry Oneal and to have precocious children of our own.
it feels awfully silly, and just perfect.
